Escaping Jack the Ripper

Escaping Jack the Ripper

1999 © Danny Falch, Stephen Ståhlberg and Tobin James Mueller
for The Power of 10, a VisionForge Project

"A flash of light blinded The Ripper for a moment, enabling Elspeth to escape."

This image was created by a collaboration between three artists.
After coming up with the story line through intensive emailing back and forth,
Danny started the image with a rendering of the alley, posters and lighting; then
added a standard female model for positioning. The alleyway was then sent to
Stephen as a hi-res jpg; Stephen added in the image of Elspeth Neoldt running in terror
recropped the image, and changed lighting and coloring to match his female model.
Tobin completed the image with postproduction editing (using Photoshop 4),
combining aspects of Danny's original alleyway with Stephen's altered alley; he also tweek the lighting, etc.

The Power of 10 is an Online Collaborative Picture Book project
in its formative stages. As the initial illustrations are completed,
writers are sketching out the first chapters. See "Contents".
