First

Within this certainty of dying
We are expected to maintain fair countenance,
For what is more poignant
Than the first and last of experience,
And having used up the first
We are eternally left with the last.

Though through endless trial
We attempt to resurrect this freshness
The freshness of initial encounter,
And we crave to bring back
That first overwhelming touch,
What we are actually plagued by
Is only our memories.
