Woody Mankowski

Saxophonist and composer Forrest "Woody" Mankowski teaches jazz saxophone at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. A graduate in saxophone performance from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, he performs regularly on saxophone, clarinet, and flute and has appeared with Randy Brecker, Richie Cole, James Moody, and Bobby Shew. Mankowski performed regularly for two years with the band "New York City Swing" in New York and composed and arranged music for the off-Broadway theatre group "Project 400." He is active as a commerical singer and instrumentalist. You may have heard him singing lead on literally hundreds of jingles -- most notably Elder Beerman, Benadryl, and Miller Lite. Since joining the faculty of the Lawrence Conservatory, Mankowski has been composing and arranging for the faculty jazz combo "Extempo." He also composes and arranges for the groups "Janet Planet" and "Big Mouth."
