BROADSIDE
(10x34 inches)

Each year, beginning in the 1980s, The Stinehour Press asked a calligrapher to design their annual New Year’s greeting alphabet broadside. These broadsides were shipped around the world from the renowned press to their clients. In 1993, Eric Green was the first artist to be so honored. He decided to incorporate a pictorial vision into the usual alphabet. In payment for his artwork, Stinehour Press printed an exclusive run that incorporated the Ezra Pound excerpt from The Pisan Cantos. The resulting print is what is being offered.

Map letters from the 15th and 16th century rise around an S adapted from the Book of Kells, the 12th century Irish Bible. The view is northern Vermont looking across the Connecticut River to The White Mountains.

Printed with archival inks on acid-free rag paper.

Only a couple dozen prints remain for sale.
